Texans Release Reed, Reed joining Jets

On Tuesday the Houston Texans announced that they will be releasing Safety Ed Reed, and Rex Ryan one of Reed’s former coaches is happy to land him.

Following Reeds release, the New York Jets are according to ESPN.com worked out a deal for the nine time Pro Bowler. The addition of Reed would strengthen the teams’ secondary, but also some question if Reed still has anything left in the tank, due to injuries in the past.

With the addition of Reed, he brings a passion, knowledge and leadership quality that would help the young players on the clubs secondary, Dee Milliner, Kyle Wilson and Antonio Allen.

Reed is a five time All-Pro with 61 interceptions, seven going for touchdowns. Signed a three year, $15 million deal with the Texans, leaving the Baltimore Ravens following their Super Bowl championship.
