Devils Land Schneider, draft Brodeur

During yesterdays NHL draft in Newark, New Jersey, the New Jersey Devils made a big draft day trade.

New Jersey dealt the ninth overall pick in the draft to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for goaltender Cory Schneider. The deal satisfies needs for both clubs as the Devils bring in their goaltender of the future to replace the aging and soon to be retired Martin Brodeur. Vancouver on the other had drafted Bo Horvat with the ninth pick in the 1st round and added Hunter Shinkaruk with their pick, number 24 in the first round.

Later on New Jersey made history again in the 7th round as Martin Brodeur, representing the Devils took his son Anthony Brodeur.

This deal and the drafting of the younger Brodeur give New Jersey hope and a brighter future in net after Martin Brodeur eventually retirement from the NHL.
