NHL News: Vancouver Hires Tortorella, Flyers buy out Bryzgalov

It’s a switch of head coaches as Alain Vignault, fired from the Vancouver Canucks becomes the new head coach of the New York Rangers and now the Canucks have hired former Rangers coach John Totorella to be their new bench boss.

New York had gone for a more offensive approach in Vignault, while Vancouver needed a more defensive minded coach to instill a tough and physical defense.

According to NHL.com the Philadelphia Flyers will use their buyout clause of goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov’s remaining seven years on the nine year contract he signed in 2011.

While these changes will make a difference is uncertain but the fans and organizations of Vancouver and Philadelphia will look forward to seeing how these changes play out.
