2013 New York Rangers Needs

The New York Rangers have several needs; having a head coach is not one of them anymore as they have according to reports hired former Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault to be their new leader.

Needs:

1 Stop adding “big” name players- Adding big name players such as Rick Nash, Marion Gaborik and Brad Richards has not led to a Stanley Cup title for the Rangers. Perhaps adding Vigneault will reignite Richards’s playmaking skills.

2 Resign your core- Retaining your young defensemen and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is important to this Rangers team because they are near the identical importance of Martin Brodeur, Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer for the Devils teams of the early 90s and early 2000s.

3 Keep it simple-Under former head coach John Tortorella the Rangers were an aggressive defensive team, having Vigneault as their head coach they will be more offensive. They need to keep a simple balance of defensive and offensive approach that will keep them fresh when the playoffs start.
